Every Day in May - Day 31- Bake a Cake - Celebrate

This is a project started by Life Behind the Purple Door. She has posted an idea for a blog post everyday in May. I thought it would be a good idea so I am going to join in. If you would like to join in as well you can go to her site at Life Behind the Purple Door and see the list of ideas.

Bake a Cake - Celebrate

Today's prompt has to do with celebrating completing a goal. I made it! My goal was to blog every day in May and i only had one day where I missed a post but I caught up the next day. Not only did I post a journaling type of post each day I did a post of #30 Days of Lists post each day. Even though at times I wanted to give up and not do a post because I was not in the mood I powered through and did it. I am very proud of myself for doing this.

Every Day in May - Day 29 - What you have learned most this month

This is a project started by Life Behind the Purple Door. She has posted an idea for a blog post everyday in May. I thought it would be a good idea so I am going to join in. If you would like to join in as well you can go to her site at Life Behind the Purple Door and see the list of ideas.

What you have learned most this month
This month I am  learning that it can be hard work to make sure you post everyday on your blog. Even if you have the prompts telling you what to post it can still be hard to come up with what to right. I have had fun doing this though as it is giving me experience in writing more often.

I have also tried to learn to have more patience this month. My family and I have spent more time in doctor's offices this month than normal and with that comes patience. Their policy I believe is to hurry up and wait.

Another thing I am trying to learn this month is not to worry so much. Some things in life you can not change and you just have to learn to live with or to at the least not worry about. Things happen for a reason and will all work out in the end. Just be patient (there is that word again) and have faith.

One Little Word - May 2015

Image credit to Ali Edwards. You can check out her website and learn more about One Little Word by clicking here

For the month of May our creative prompt was to use the words I AM and describe how your word is working right now in your life and who you are at this moment.

I am dreaming of things I want to do in my life. I am starting to collect things that will help me in my biggest dream of writing a book. To start I am doing more journaling and blog writing to get me into the practice of writing I want to start a dream journal to keep track of the dreams I want to work towards completing.

One of the big things I want to work on is focusing on my dreams. A big challenge for me at this point is to focus. I have had a lot of things happen this year that have tried to knock me off track and I really need to buckle down and focus on all my dreams. One way I am learning to focus is by researching ideas to go with my dreams and reading books on my dream subjects or as inspiration.

I am trying to be open to new ideas and ways to accomplish my dreams. I am learning to start small and work towards the bigger goals. I need to remember that not all dreams can or will happen over night, I must be open to working hard to accomplish all of my dreams. Being open can lead to many new opportunities and ideas.

I am learning to be open to dreaming with my eyes wide open. I am also learning about new ways to write, learning to focus, learning to relax and learning to be more open minded. When you are wanting to tackle dreams you need to be open to learning, if you don't certain dreams may never happen. You should learn at least one new things a day.

I am a work in progress. This means exactly what it says - I am not perfect and need to learn as I go, make changes as needed, be open to new ideas and be patient. I am an ever changing person as life throws new things at me.

I am trying to learn, trying to be open, trying to dream, trying to focus, trying to be myself, and trying to stay positive. Every day you must try - do not give up. No matter what it is just remember you can accomplish it if you just keep trying.

For me this is a good one. I need to remember that no matter what others say, do or think I am worth it. It is important to remember that to keep myself in the positive thinking mode.

I am hopeful that my dream will come true with a little work and faith. I am hopeful that I can change and stay on the positive path of life. I am hopeful that I can try what ever I want and succeed at it. I am hopeful that I will always be able to think of new dreams. Never stop being hopeful.

I am me. This kind of goes along with all I have been writing about in this lesson and may even repeat myself a second or third time. but I need to repeat so I will always remember. I am me and no one can change me to be something I do not want to be. I am happy with who I am, I have my own ways of dreaming and thinking and that is ok. Dream with my eyes wide open and be me.

Every Day in May - Day 28 - What do you collect

What do you collect?

Remember When - Tell a story from your childhood

I have many fun and good memories from my childhood. It is funny that one of the Christmas' that my parents remember as being the worst for them was the best for us kids. Mom says that particular Christmas they had no money for presents for us so they went to an auction the day before Christmas and bought some things. Well for us kids we had no idea that things were that bad and we loved what we got and had the best Christmas. My sister and I got a dollhouse and a kitchen (pre- little tykes but the same type) to share and my brother got a drum set. I will always remember that Christmas as one of the best. It makes my mom happy when she hears this. My parents made not have always had a lot but they did make our holidays and birthdays special to us.

Every Day in May - Day 22 - Share a recipe

This is a project started by Life Behind the Purple Door. She has posted an idea for a blog post everyday in May. I thought it would be a good idea so I am going to join in. If you would like to join in as well you can go to her site at Life Behind the Purple Door and see the list of ideas.

Share a recipe

In my house we like to make runzas so I will share the recipe for those. This recipe is handed down from my grandma. What are runzas you say. Well they are are ground beef, onions, and cabbage cooked together and then put into bread dough and baked. Sounds good right? Well I will give you the recipe and instructions on how to make them.

Runzas

Ingredients
4 pounds ground beef
2 onions chopped
1 large head of cabbage - chopped
Salt & Pepper to taste
36 frozen bread rolls - thawed and raised (we use Rhodes)

Instructions
Brown the ground beef, onions, cabbage and seasonings until cooked through then drain. Here is a picture of what your cooked mixture should look like.

Nest spread the bread dough to about the size of your hand and fill with the meat mixture. Use your judgement as to how much but I use about 3 tablespoons or so. Then you will crimp the edges of the dough together and bake at 350 degrees until golden brown. Here is a link to a video of how to make the runzas: Runza how to video

Here is a picture of the runzas before they go into the oven.

And here is a picture of the finished product

I hope you will give these a try and enjoy them.

The Circle - Spring Moodboards

I have been missing The Circle Monthly Linkup hosted by Kiki at In Its Time and it is time I get back in the groove of things. This month's theme is Spring Moodboards. Since it is 2015 they are using 15 things in their moodboards.   If you want to link up just stop by In Its Time.

I have been trying to think of what I want to do a moodboard for. I think I have finally decided what I want to do. I have always thought about how I would do my wedding if I could do a wedding do-over or a renewal of vows. When I got married Scott and I were young, I was 17 and he was 19, we have now been married for 25 years. At the time we had a very small wedding no fancy reception, just cake and punch in the community hall. No pictures to remember the day by other than two or three snap shots. I enjoy looking at wedding things and watching wedding shows so I thought this would be a good thing to create a moodboard for in the off chance that one day I will get to have a renewal of vows.

I think I would have my colors be Tiffany Blue and Silver. I have grown really fond of the color Tiffany Blue. But I would like to do a rustic type wedding theme.

Here is a dress that I like but have my blue on it and wear boots with it and have the guys dress in this same way

Since I am am book person - I like the idea of the bouquet being made from old books

Here is a cake that I like

I think these toppers are cute

Another thing I like if the candy bar - only maybe use more rustic looking containers

I also like this idea of no seating arrangement

I like the idea of a barn wedding

I think these place setting are nice minus the candle holders and tulle

I would use mason jar flower and candle holders

I would use blue and white lilacs as my flowers

Here is an aisle decoration I like and fill with lilacs and lavender

I kind of like this idea for a guest book

Here is a cute idea for the wedding favors

And when it is all over I would like to spend a few days here: The Biltmore Estate in Asheville, NC
