One Little Word - Post 4

More thoughts on my One Little Word - CHANGE

In what areas is your word already visable in your life?
I have been trying to work on this a little so I have been collecting things to help me change and to keep on the positive track. I have positive quotes hanging at home and work as well as I have my necklaced that says changed. I use all of these as little reminders to do the right thing.

What do you fear most in 2014?
I think the biggest fear is failure that I won't change. This would be the negative thinker that I don't want to be talking through. Another fear is that if I do this change the way I want, certain people in my life will not be supportive of me and that hurts. I know the one that matters most to me is very supportive but there are others who won't be and it hurts to think that they will be this way, but that is also the reason I am working on this is so I won't be that way. There is nothing worse than being made fun of for what you want to really do in life.

What are you most excited about in 2014?
That I really can do this, I can be a better person, I can be happy in my life, I can CHANGE. Also I know I will see things in a better light by making this change. I can and I will change.

What is something you want to change in your life?

Happiness Project - March

I am a little late in getting up March's post regarding the Happiness Project but that is ok, better late than never.

This month Gretchen's main focus that she talked about was Aim Higher. Here are Gretchen's suggestions on how to achieve this:

  • Launch a blog
  • Enjoy the fun of failure
  • Ask for help
  • Work smart
  • Enjoy now

Launch a blog - well I have already done this, in fact I have two of them one of them (Griperang's Bookmarks) focuses all on books. I use the blog to review books and highlight authors. My second blog is this one. I started it to help myself change and to be more positive but I have not really posted much of anything until this month. I was stuck in a blah mode. Well I decided to jump in with both feet and start writing this month. I have been doing very good and posting each day. I am working on some projects that have really made me think about myself more. I am really enjoying the writing.

Enjoy the fun of failure - This is one spot I will really have to work on as I have low self esteem so when people tell me I did something not good. I need to look at things in a more positive way and learn how to use the criticism to improve what I do.

Ask for help - This is one thing I am very good at, if I do not know how to do something or need a suggestion on something I am not afraid to ask for help. I would rather ask for help than to do it wrong or for someone not to like what I do.

Work smart - Some days I am better at this than other days. I liked Gretchen's idea of working for 90 minutes at a time, that would help to break up your work time. Also she says not to focus on what you will not get done in a hour or day but to focus on what you will get done in a week or month. Also make your work environment more friendly and relaxing to you. Gretchen burns a certain type of candle, I have decorated my office with things I want to look at, positive saying and good scents.

Enjoy now - This is a really good one to focus on and to make a very important part of what I am trying to learn to do. I really and I mean really need to learn how to enjoy now. Stop looking for the negative, complaining or waiting for the other shoe to drop. Reflect on things you have done and enjoy to help you with this goal.

Thank you for sticking with me on this project and stay tuned for April

One Little Word - Post 2

Why do I need ore of this word (change) in my life? I need more change in my life because the only way I am going to become the person I want to be is through change. For me change is going to be very important because it is something I am going to have to work on each and every day and learn to really commit to this if I want to be a happier person.

Why is this a good fit at this time? This word is a good fit for me right now because if I really want to become a more positive thinking person and to be happier then I need to commit to change. Change for me is sometimes hard and I may have a slip or two but this is something I really want to do for myself, as I do not want to be the bitter, negative person that no one wants to be around. I want to live a happy life not a miserable one where I am never happy. Change can be healthy for a person and so I a really looking forward to my changes I am going to make.

What's been happening in my life that makes this my word for 2014? For me I want to change some things in my life, I am not able to change all that I want so I will start with what I can. My attitude and/or outlook on life is not always good, which can make me in a bad mood then I am not nice. I am always surrounded by negative people and see how miserable they are and see that no one wants to be around them - I do not want to be like that - it is not healthy nor good. IF you are not happy with your life then make changes and that is what I am going to do.

One Little Word - Post 1

I don't know if you have heard about the one little word, but I have been hearing about it for a couple of years now and really wanted to participate this year so I took the plunge. If you would like to know more about it check out Ali Edwards Blog (click here) to learn more about it. I am going to blogging my journey with my one little word a little at a time. So here goes nothing.

My word I chose for this year is CHANGE.

Definition for change: v. 1. to make the form, nature, content etc., of something different from what it is or from what it would be if left alone 2. transform or convert 3. to become different.

Thesaurus - synonyms for change: adjustment, shift, development, difference, revolution, transformation, transition, refinement.

Why I chose this word: I chose this word because I really want to change my life and attitude. I have people in my life that only look at the negative sides of everything and are not happy with their life or anything for that matter. I do not want to be that person that no one wants to be around because all I put off is negative vibes and am angry at life in general. This will take a lot of work on my part but I really want to change and become a more positive, happy, satisfied person who not only likes myself but others like me as well. Change I know comes in lots of different ways but I am ready for the challenge.

What does it mean to change? To me this means that you need to do something in a different way or to act a different way.

What does it look like to change? I think if you change correctly or for the good you will be able to see it in the way I act and feel as well as my attitude.

What does it feel like to change? For me I am hoping it will be a positive happy feeling as I am doing this to better myself and to become a better person to those around me.

In what ways am I already changed? For awhile now I have been trying a little more to look for positive things and to not let things bother me so much. Some days I am better at this than others but I am a work in progress.

Stay tuned for more about my One Little Word.
